Overview

The French Talent Passport (Talent Passport) is a work and residence permit designed to attract highly skilled talent. It covers multiple categories, including salaried employees, innovative entrepreneurs, artists, and researchers. This pathway allows the holder and their family to legally reside and work in France for up to 4 years. Applicants must demonstrate a clear job or project in France and that their skills or contributions benefit the French economy, culture, or scientific research.

Requirements

  • Be employed by a French company in a position matching your qualifications, or be a founder or executive of an innovative company, or work in specific fields such as research, art, or sports.
  • Hold relevant academic degrees or work experience.
  • Have a formal job offer or invitation from a French employer or partner organization.
  • Provide a clean criminal record.
  • Demonstrate sufficient funds to support yourself in France.

Application steps

  1. Confirm your application category and prepare the required documents.
  2. Your French employer or partner organization submits a work permit application to the local labor authority (DIRECCTE).
  3. After obtaining the work permit, apply for a long-stay visa at the French embassy or consulate in your home country.
  4. Once the visa is approved, enter France and apply for a residence permit at the local police station within 3 months.
  5. The police station reviews the application and issues the Talent Passport residence card.

Tips

  • Communicate early with your French employer or partner organization to ensure a smooth work permit application.
  • All documents must be translated into French and notarized.
  • Choose the correct category, as each has different qualification requirements.
  • Apply for the residence permit promptly after arriving in France to avoid overstaying.
  • Consult the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII) or a specialized lawyer for the latest policy updates.
