What documents does Express Entry need if you have children?

A birth certificate “if you're declaring dependent children”, and an adoption certificate “when a dependent child is listed as ‘adopted’” — IRCC's own conditions, tied to what you declared.

Children also affect the fees: each dependent child adds a processing fee, though the Right of Permanent Residence Fee is not charged for them.

When this answer doesn’t apply

  • · These are the publicly listed conditions. Your IRCC account's checklist governs what you upload.
  • · Whether a child meets IRCC's definition of a dependent child is a separate question with its own official criteria.

These are limits of the answer, not a judgment about any reader’s situation. Working out which apply is yours to do.
