Immigration decisions affect people’s lives, so our guides and tools follow the rules below. If anything on the site breaks them, please tell us at contact@immigrate.io.
1. Official sources only
Facts on the site come from government sources: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) pages on canada.ca, and the official pages of the provinces and territories. We do not use forums, news articles, consultant websites or other third-party summaries as sources.
2. Every statement is quoted and linked
Each statement in a guide is stored together with the exact sentence from the official page it relies on and that page’s address. Guides list every page they use under “Sources”. Before a guide is published, an automated check confirms that each quoted sentence appears word for word on the official page as we fetched it on the date shown.
3. Dated
Every guide and tool page shows when its information was last checked against the official source. Rules change; if a page you rely on shows an old date, check the official source first.
4. Information, not verdicts
We describe requirements and how your answers compare with them. We never tell you that you are eligible, that you will be invited or approved, or what your chances are: only IRCC and the provinces decide applications, and our tools cannot see your documents. A scan for this kind of wording runs on every build of the site, and a build that contains it fails.
5. Plain language, no omissions to simplify
We restate official text in plain English, but we do not drop conditions or exceptions to make a rule look simpler. When the official pages do not say something, we do not fill the gap with assumptions; we say what the page says, or leave the point out.
6. How guides are written
Guides are drafted with the help of AI tools, working only from text fetched from the official pages listed under Sources. The AI tools do not decide what is true: every statement must carry a quotation that the automated check finds on the official page, and statements without one are removed. Translated interface text is also produced with AI tools; guides, legal pages and quoted rules stay in English, the language of the official sources.
7. Corrections and updates
- Report an error to contact@immigrate.io with the page address. We check the report against the official source and correct the page if it is wrong.
- When we correct or recheck a guide, its “Last checked” date changes.
- Links to official sources are checked automatically every week, and broken links are reported to us.
8. Independence
Nobody can pay to appear in, change or remove anything in our guides and tools. If we ever offer paid features, they will be labelled and kept separate from editorial content. See About and our methodology.
