How much does a UK Skilled Worker visa cost?

Applying from outside the UK for a 3-year visa, a single applicant pays the Home Office £3,924.

Read from GOV.UK's published guidance on 2026-09-19.

That is two separate charges added together: the application fee, which depends on how long your visa is for and whether you apply from inside or outside the UK, and the immigration health surcharge, which is a yearly rate multiplied by the length of the visa. The surcharge is usually the larger of the two.

When this answer doesn’t apply

  • · It covers fees paid to the Home Office only. Your English language test, TB test, ATAS certificate and any Ecctis assessment are paid to other organisations, which set their own prices.
  • · It assumes a visa of a whole number of years. GOV.UK publishes separate surcharge rules for part-years.
  • · It does not apply the healthcare surcharge exemptions GOV.UK lists, including the one for Health and Care Worker visa holders and their dependants.
  • · Amounts are in pounds, as the Home Office charges them. It does not convert currency.

These are limits of the answer, not a judgment about any reader’s situation. Working out which apply is yours to do.
